AIT is pleased to announce that on May 13–14, 2026, the workshop “Present and Future of Thermal Applications with Earth Observation Data” will take place at the ASI headquarters in Rome.
The event is international and will be held in English.
It will consist of two days of thematic workshops at the ASI headquarters in Rome, focusing on urban heat islands, scientific developments, and thermal applications of Earth Observation.
In the context of increasingly rapid urbanization and the impacts of climate change, cities and human settlements, as well as natural environments, water surfaces, and glaciers, are exposed to rising temperatures, alterations in microclimate, and changes in their physicochemical and biological properties.
In order to participate in the workshop, delegates must register using the registration form available at the link.

L’Associazione Italiana di Telerilevamento (AIT), unitamente al CNR-IREA Milano, bandisce un premio per una tesi di laurea per onorare la memoria del dott. Eugenio Zilioli, già responsabile della Sezione IREA di Milano e co-fondatore dell’AIT, costituita nel 1986.
Il premio per l’anno 2025 è di euro 2.000 e riguarderà una tesi di Laurea Magistrale, conseguita nel periodo maggio 2024-aprile 2025, relativa al telerilevamento multi-sorgente ottico e radar applicato alle tematiche dell’ambiente e del territorio
Sono ammessi a concorrere al premio candidati che abbiano conseguito la laurea con votazione minima di 106/110 presso una Università italiana.
Le domande devono pervenire entro il 31 luglio 2025
La Summer School, organizzata dall’Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia e dal Centro Studi NEED, si propone di offrire un percorso di alta formazione altamente specialistico e multidisciplinare, finalizzato all’approfondimento delle conoscenze, competenze e capacità operative necessarie per affrontare le complesse sfide connesse all’attuazione del principio One Health.

L’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI) è lieta di annunciare un workshop dedicato alle Pubbliche Amministrazioni interessate alle potenzialità di utilizzo del dato satellitare nelle loro attività istituzionali attraverso lo sviluppo di progetti in partnership con l’ASI.
L’evento si terrà presso la sede dell’ASI a Roma il 29 maggio 2025 dalle ore 9:30 alle ore 17:00 e sarà dedicato al programma Innovation for Downstream Preparation – Public Administrations (I4DP – PA), concepito con l’obiettivo di preparare una nuova generazione di servizi downstream utili al governo del territorio e delle risorse economiche, attraverso il coinvolgimento attivo delle Pubbliche Amministrazioni quali attori principali del disegno e dello sviluppo dei progetti e non solo quali utenti finali dei servizi.
Il programma I4DP PA viene attuato attraverso bandi periodici. Nel corso del workshop verranno presentati i risultati dei progetti del primo bando, dedicato alla tematica della “Effetti dei cambiamenti climatici e degli eventi estremi” e i progetti del secondo bando che ha incluso tre ambiti tematici: “Reti Sicure” (es. aumento della sicurezza delle infrastrutture di trasporto e delle reti di distribuzione); “Lotta alla siccità” (es. prevenzione, monitoraggio e gestione della siccità); “Città resilienti” (es. impatto dei cambiamenti climatici sui nuclei urbani).
Il workshop vuole essere anche un momento di discussione e confronto sugli obiettivi del prossimo terzo bando, considerando l’imminente avvio operativo del programma IRIDE.
L’evento inizierà alle ore 09:30 e terminerà alle ore 17:00.
L’evento si svolgerà in presenza (obbligatoria per gli speaker), con possibilità di seguirlo anche da remoto.

Job description
A Post-Doc position under the supervision of Prof. Micol Rossini is available at the remote sensing of environmental dynamics lab, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Milano Bicocca.
The position is related to the Project “Development and test of algorithm for vegetation functional parameter retrieval from PRISMA in agro-forestry” funded by the Italian Space Agency.
Subject description
The objective of this position is to capitalise on newly available Earth Observation data sources offering complementary spatial resolutions, wide spectral ranges and revisit capabilities to advance the capability to monitor biodiversity changes from space.
In particular, the main aim of the project is to develop a PRISMA data processing chain for the generation of Earth Observation products related to plant functional traits from PRISMA reflectance data and the exploitation of plant trait maps to generate products related to functional diversity.
Important tasks are to:
➢ develop algorithms for the retrieval of plant traits (e.g. leaf and canopy pigment content, leaf and canopy water content, leaf and canopy nitrogen content, leaf area index) from PRISMA reflectance data through machine learning algorithms and radiative transfer models;
➢ create plant trait maps and validate them in forest ecosystems;
➢ apply multivariate and machine learning methods to estimate functional diversity based on a combination of leaf and canopy traits;
➢ investigate possible integration with other earth observation (EO) products;
➢ evaluate the value of the products generated by PRISMA data in the context of forest biodiversity monitoring

The work is carried out together with a team of remote sensing expertise within the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and in close collaboration with remote sensing researchers within the project belonging to the following institutions:

This is a full time position (40 hours/week) available for one year, from July 2022 to June 2023 (extendable). The salary is within a range of 25-30000 EUR per year, according to experience and skills, corresponding to approximately 1500-1700 EUR monthly net income.
