13TH EARSEL WORKSHOP ON FOREST FIRES 2024

We would like to invite you to the next 13th EARSeL Forest Fire Workshop entitled “Remote Sensing of Forest Fires: Lessons learned and future challenges under a changing climate(https://forest-fires.earsel.org/workshop/13-FF-2024/); the workshop will be held on 19-20 September, 2024, Milan, Italy.

The workshop has a long history and since the foundation of the Forest Fire Special Interest Group (https://forest-fires.earsel.org/) it gathers together scientists, experts, managers, local and international organizations involved in the use of Remote Sensing technologies for monitoring forest fires and their impacts on the biosphere in the framework of the climate crisis and expected climate changes.

The workshop is organized over two days with plenary oral and poster sessions; abstracts will undergo revision by the scientific committee and accepted contributions from participants to the workshop will be published in a digital book of abstracts. Abstract submission is open until the end of March; please visit the abstract submission page.

La Geospatial Data and Satellite Facilities Open School “Copernicus, l’Agricoltura 4.0 e la sostenibilità ambientale e d’impresa” è proposta dal Coordinamento della Copernicus Academy, dagli Stati Generali per l’innovazione e da Agricolus s.r.l. quali espressioni dello User Forum Nazionale di Copernicus per, rispettivamente, la Comunità dell’Università e della Ricerca, la comunità del Terzo Settore, il settore delle imprese. L’Open School è altresì organizzata dal Dipartimento di Scienze Agrarie, Alimentari e Ambientali dell’Università di Perugia e dall’Agenzia Regionale per la Protezione Ambientale dell’Umbria in collaborazione con ISMEA, e-Geos s.p.a., Planetek Italia s.r.l., Bluleaf, con la partecipazione del CREA.

Copernicus e la gestione intelligente delle aree urbane

L’evento è organizzato congiuntamente dal Politecnico di Milano, dallo User Forum e dalla rete degli Academy nazionali, e vede la partecipazione di rappresentanti della Commissione Europea e di agenzie esecutive – ECMWF, JRC – nell’ambito della componente dei servizi operativi di Copernicus.

L’obiettivo è far conoscere l’utilità degli strumenti operativi nel campo dell’osservazione della Terra, della Geomatica e della Geoinformazione, nonché le tecnologie informatiche e per la comunicazione, di cui il Programma Europeo Copernicus rappresenta attualmente la maggiore e più efficace integrazione ed espressione complessiva.

Il workshop si rivolge a largo spettro al settore formativo dell’assistenza tecnico-scientifica, accademico e della ricerca, ai soggetti pubblici e privati.  Una sessione pratica affronterà i temi specifici della descrizione delle zone climatiche nella città di Milano e dell’estrazione di informazioni dai Social Media in situazioni di emergenza.
